Our Cattle

Tres Pastos Cattle Company cares for its cattle from birth to processing. Many cattle producers only participate in one of or two phases of beef production with the cattle potentially changing ownership and environment multiple times. Our cattle are born in our pasture. Once weaned, they continue to graze and grow in an adjacent pasture. The mature female heifers then become a productive part of our herd and the steers are introduced to our proprietary feeding program.Ā

Cattle Types

TPCC seeks to produce high quality 100% Full-Blood Wagyu Beef. We also are strong supporters of the youth of Washington County, Texas and regularly purchase bred heifers and commercial steers at the Washington County Fair Youth Livestock Auction, thus introducing other breeds into our herd.

As a result, our beef products include:

* 100% Full-Blood Wagyu ā€“ All beef sold by TPCC that is identified as 100% Full-Blood Wagyu comes from cattle that have been registered with The American Wagyu Association and have been DNA verified as being full-blood Wagyu, meaning no other cattle breed is present in the genetic line.

* Wagyu Beef that is 50% or more Wagyu - All beef sold by TPCC that is identified as Wagyu Beef comes from cattle where the sire or dam are 100% Full-Blood Wagyu.

* Signature Breeds which may include Angus, Charolais, Herford, Maine-Anjou and others.

Wagyu Benefits

Wagyu is a Japanese cattle breed that was imported to the US in the late 20th century. The most widely recognized type of Wagyu beef is ā€œKobe Beefā€ which derives from the Tajima strain of Wagyu and is raised in a particular area of Japan. Wagyu were originally used as draft animals, pulling carts in mountainous areas of Japan. As a result, over time they began to store intramuscular fat as a source of energy which beef lovers enjoy today as flavorful marbling.Ā Wagyu can also be cross-bred with other breeds producing a delicious combination of marbling and texture.

Feed Program

No antibiotics, preservatives, or non-organic material (including pasture fertilizer) are used at any point in the feeding process

We believe feeding quality grain in a stress-free environment is the key to producing well marbled, flavorful beef. Unlike overcrowded and unsanitary production feedlots, our feeder steers live in a special pasture with adequate forage. They are fed daily a custom grain mix that is combined with Finesseā„¢ Premium Cattle Mineral with Matrix Technology purchased through Protocol Naturals in Bridgeport, Texas.
